Why Mangrove Movement?

for our planet, mangroves

  • use their roots and leaves to filter nitrates and phosphates, limiting unwanted chemicals
  • trap sediments and pollutants that would otherwise flow out to sea, decreasing ocean pollution
  • bind soil, which protects against erosion

for our wildlife, mangroves

  • provide habitat for a wide range of species, ranging from insects that seek shelter of the trees to marine life that thrive in the waters amidst the roots of the mangroves, thus improving biodiversity
  • supply algae and invertebrates with essential nutrients, feeding small organisms and thus sustaining them

for us, mangroves

  • provide protection against typhoons by acting as barriers between land and sea, reducing damage to property and livelihood
  • create sustainable livelihoods like fishing and eco-tourism
  • provide food security through the abundance of fish, crabs, shrimps and mussels

mission

improving the lives of Filipinos by planting mangroves and raising awareness of its importance to the environment.

PROVIDING ACCESS TO ELECTRICITY

The portable generator allows the village to have access to electricity during cloudy or rainy days when their solar lamps cannot be powered by the sun. This is crucial for family members who have medical needs such as asthma and need to use a nebulizer for treatment and relief.
